Two jobs in one booking: making the machine perform the way its parts say it should, and making the desktop look like something you actually chose.

The performance half starts with the frame rate almost everybody is leaving on the table. Most PCs — including expensive ones, including pre-builts sold as gaming machines — ship with a handful of settings quietly left at their defaults, and those defaults cost real frames. Monitors running well below the refresh rate they were bought for. Memory running slower than it was sold as. Windows and driver options set for a generic office box rather than the hardware actually in the case. None of it is exotic, all of it is free performance, and almost nobody has it right.

Then comes the per-game work, which is where the real gains live: settings tuned title by title against your specific hardware and monitor, driver-level profiles configured properly, upscaling used where it genuinely helps and turned off where it just smears the image, and the pile of background overlays most people are running without realising trimmed back to the ones they actually use.

The ricing half is the fun part, and it's entirely yours to direct. Animated or live wallpapers, a custom dock or taskbar, icon packs, accent colours, widgets and system monitors — pulled into one coherent look rather than five mismatched tools fighting each other. Come with references: a screenshot that made you stop scrolling, a Rainmeter setup you liked, a colour scheme, a game whose UI you want the desktop to echo. Taste is the brief here, so the more you bring the closer it lands.

One honest note before you book: a few of the tools involved are paid, and they're paid to their makers rather than to me. Wallpaper Engine, for example, is a one-off purchase of a few pounds on Steam.
